Taunton School Preparatory

Taunton School

Taunton School Preparatory aims to inspire every child to develop into a confident, well-educated and personable adult, with an enthusiasm for learning. Individual talent is nurtured and creativity is fostered. A strong emphasis is placed on core academic subjects whilst offering a broad and balanced curricular and co-curricular programme.

Taunton School International

Taunton School

Taunton School International was established by Taunton School in 1996 to provide an intensive preparation for international students wishing to complete their education in a British school. Taunton School International has places for 84 boys and girls aged 15 –17.

Our One Year GCSE / Pre-IB Programme offers 23 examinable subjects and is an excellent preparation for students before they begin their A level studies or the IB Diploma at Taunton School or elsewhere. This is a high quality course preparing students well for life in a British boarding school academically, socially and culturally.

We provide high-quality tuition where students study a range of academic subjects following the British National Curriculum.  All students also follow an intensive course in English for Academic Purposes.

We want our students to participate fully in the life of their next school and, to help them develop the self-confidence to do so, Taunton School International runs a wide variety of clubs and sports. We enjoy full use of Taunton School’s excellent facilities, which include two swimming pools, fitness suite, sports halls, and basketball, badminton and tennis courts. This is a good opportunity for our students to make friends with British students. We encourage our students to take part in the sporting, musical and house activities that are offered in Taunton School on weekdays and weekends and all games lessons and sports teams are fully integrated with students at Taunton School.

Taunton School International Middle School

Taunton School

At the International Middle School, students aged 8—14 are provided with an intensive education in the English Language alongside core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, ICT, Art, Humanities, Drama, Music and Physical Education.  This is a 'stepping stone' course providing students with the necessary academic and social skills to make the transition smoothly into a British Preparatory or Secondary school.

Courses range in length from one term to one year and students will gain the necessary skills to be able to join a mainstream British Boarding School at the end of their course. For many, this will mean a move into Taunton School Preparatory, Taunton School International or Taunton School, but others will be fully supported to find a school to continue their education in Britain or elsewhere. Transition to a British Preparatory or Secondary School will be made at the appropriate point for an individual student's development.

Summer School

Taunton School

Taunton School Summer School offers the best introduction to life in a British Boarding School for students aged 7-17 years.

Our 3, 6 and 9 week courses include a wide range of sports, evening activities and excursions to keep the students busy and happy. Courses are small and friendly, taught by our term-time teachers and hosted in Taunton School’s safe and secure grounds. Not only does this ensure students’ needs are catered for 24 hours a day, but means they have access to the excellent facilities including two swimming pools, tennis courts, art studios, fitness suite, science laboratories, classrooms with interactive whiteboards and ICT suites.

Our Senior Summer School is ideal for students who are preparing for exams or are going on to a British boarding school. The Senior Summer courses in July and August are for students between the ages of 13 and 17, and combine intensive English tuition with other academic subjects. Our Senior Summer School is excellent preparation for GCSEs, A levels and the IB Diploma. Students take an ESOL examination at the end of their course. Lessons are complemented by a full leisure programme including sports as well as a varied programme of activities and excursions to local cities and places of interest. The Summer School is very popular, as it provides a well-supervised, structured and academic course in a safe environment. Fees are all inclusive, and include airport transfers.

Our Junior Summer School is for students aged 7-12. This course is based in our International Middle School using all their excellent facilities.  The teachers are qualified primary school teachers who have an understanding of the way that younger children learn and play. Students study a range of subjects and will take a Young Learners or International ESOL English exam at the end of their course.  There are trips and excursions as part of their lessons and a full programme of sports and cultural activities as well as integration with British day students.

Taunton School

We offer short courses of ‘Academic English Plus’ which allow closed groups of ten or more students to experience life at a British Boarding School, either integrating with British students and/or undertaking a specific course in English together with another subject such as Economics, Science, Literature, History, Photography or Sports.  All courses are tailor made and can take place throughout the academic year.
