Kent is the UK's European university with campuses in Canterbury, Medway and Brussels. The University of Kent is home to 17,000 students and is one of the most exciting universities in the country. The main 300-acre campus, founded in 1965, lies just a 20 minute walk or bus ride away from the ancient and historical city of Canterbury. The university offers a safe and friendly, multi-cultural, cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Kent was voted in the top 10 UK universities for course satisfaction in the 2008 National Student Survey, and is the Number One University for Student Satisfaction in London and south east England.

There is an excellent cultural mix at Kent, with over 110 nationalities choosing Kent as their UK study destination. Kent has an international reputation for research excellence, with top ranking subjects including Actuarial Science, Biosciences, Business, Computing, Drama, Electronics and Law.

Kent offers more than 500 undergraduate and 120 postgraduate degree programmes in over 50 subjects. Several short-term and Pre-Sessional English opportunities are also available.

Undergraduate opportunities include joint honours, study abroad or a year in industry. There are a wealth of postgraduate taught and research opportunities featuring the flexibility and interdisciplinary characteristic of so much of Kent's research.

The Canterbury campus is a very safe environment offering excellent facilities. The Templeman library contains over one million books and the Computing Service provides extensive computing facilities with all students having their own email account and access to the internet.

Kent also has an on-campus Medical Centre and Pharmacy offering a range of clinics and advice. The Student Development Unit and JobShop help students find part-time paid or voluntary work. The Student Learning and Advisory Service offers training and information about writing essays, note-taking, writing dissertations, time management and many other skills. The English Language Unit provides on-going support for non-native speakers of English through weekly interactive language classes.

Kent has a choice of single study on campus bedrooms, all with fast internet connection. The variety of rooms includes mixed or single sex, en-suite, catered or self-catered options.

The Sports Centre offers some of the best student sports facilities in the country and operates a sport-for-all policy to encourage everybody to keep fit and healthy, either as recreational users or as serious athletes.

The 340 seat Gulbenkian Theatre has drama, dance, poetry, music and comedy performed by students, amateurs and professional companies. The Gulbenkian Cinema is Kent's regional film theatre showing the best in independent cinema. Both of these venues are at the heart of the Canterbury campus.

The University of Kent offers its students a truly international experience. A quarter of the student population is made up of international students and this diversity is reflected in the range of on-campus active societies including African-Caribbean, Asian and Latin American clubs. Kent students are passionate about their Union-run societies, which range from rugby, skydiving and canoeing to wine, salsa dancing or religious and political societies.

While studying at Kent, students are encouraged to develop their interpersonal skills by becoming involved with the Kent community through participating in youth mentoring schemes and other volunteer groups or the student newspaper and radio station.
