Overview
David Game College, situated in Notting Hill Gate, London, was founded in 1974. It is one of London’s leading centres for pre-University education. The College is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and is subject to regular detailed inspection, giving students an assurance of continuing academic quality.
There are between 300 and 400 students in attendance at the College each year. The majority are preparing for entry onto degree courses at UK universities. The College is an international institution and, in any one year, there are students from more than 40 different countries all sharing their learning experiences with British students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
David Game College, is the flagship of the David Game College Group which now has over 10 associated colleges in the UK including the London Film Academy, Abacus College Oxford, Bath Academy, Cavendish College, as well as colleges in Pakistan and Malta.
Academic strengths
David Game College has taught A-levels and GCSEs since 1974 with a rate of success that reflects the quality of the teaching and the individual attention given to its students. In recent examination results, 94 per cent of David Game A-level students gained places at British universities. Students in one academic year have also achieved four of the top five marks in the UK for Pure Mathematics A-level (AQA board).
David Game College offers all the main A-level subjects and with its highly flexible, small-class timetabling arrangements, almost any combination of subjects is possible. Retake courses are also available for students wishing to improve their
examination grades.
As an alternative to A-levels, the College offers the University Foundation Programme (UFP). This nine month intensive programme with entries in September and January, is now taken by more than 200 students each year. The programme is recognised by over 60 universities as a qualification for entry into honours degree courses.
All of David Game’s pre-university students receive individual counselling on making their university choices and applications through the UK’s UCAS system.
The Kensington Academy of English (KAE) is the EFL department of David Game College. It has two locations, South Kensington and Notting Hill Gate. Every year more than 500 students attend from over 100 countries, for courses lasting from one week to one year. Some students attend simply to improve their command of the English language. Others prepare for the EFL qualifications required to gain entry to a UK university, particularly for the British Council IELTS test.
Facilities
There is a large library and study area which gives students access to a wide-range of reference books, periodicals, internet, intranet, past examination papers and university prospectuses. Specialist teaching facilities include numerous science laboratories, IT suites and art and graphic design rooms. There is also a student canteen on-site. Student cards are issued and these give valuable discounts on a wide range of London attractions.
Student life
The relatively small scale of David Game College means that students become members of a friendly and supportive community. An orientation programme at the start of each academic year creates this warm and welcoming climate. The College has its own football and basketball team. Museum trips and excursions to European cities are also arranged.
