Buckinghamshire New University (Bucks) attracts students from all over the world resulting in an exciting, mutli-cultural community: one where you will quickly feel at home. At Bucks you will be assured of a warm welcome and you will find it easier to settle into student life within our friendly, caring and supportive academic environment.

Bucks is a new generation university one that is always open to fresh ideas and thinking, our students will thrive in an innovative, supportive and dynamic culture that we aim to provide our students:
-We have developed a large number of courses through our industry contacts, so our students are better prepared for the world of work when they graduate
-We are currently investing £200 million on re-developing our High Wycombe campus, constructing and refurbishing our buildings for a brand new look and state-of-the-art facilities.
-Our management has invested funds for 2008 entry on enhancing the student experience through FREE social activities for our students to help build their confidence, networking and life skills

Bucks has been providing education to the residents of High Wycombe and the surrounding areas since its inception as the Science and Art School in 1893. In 1989, the College became one of the UK’s new independent Higher Education Corporations and in March 1999 was awarded University College status by the Government in recognition of its high standards of teaching, training and research - it was then given its own degree awarding powers. Bucks has now achieved full university title in 2007.

Student profile
Julie aged 22 is in the second year of the BSc(Hons) Business Information Technology course. Julie’s origins are in France but before coming to BCUC she spent two years in Mauritius studying for Le Bocage International (International Baccalaureate).

"I came to England to study because I felt that the English education system offered more flexibility than the French system and it would be an excellent opportunity to improve my English. I was a little nervous at first because I didn’t understand everything but everyone was very welcoming and patient and the lecturers in the Faculty were always there and willing to help me.

I am really enjoying the mix of business and IT offered by the Business Information Technology course. Based on my experience so far I have managed to secure a job for the summer with a local company who have recently installed SAP (a business software solutions package) which will really help me to develop my IT skills.

I have also been working as a student technician during term time since the beginning of the year. This is the perfect job for me as a student. It’s a great opportunity to meet people and I really enjoy helping the other students – I even manage to get some of my assignment work done at the same time!

After I graduate I hope to stay in England for a couple of years to gain some work experience but then my ambition is to travel around the world and perhaps later to do a Masters Degree

Lancez - vous!!"
