University of Dundee

OVERVIEW
overview

The University of Dundee is located on a campus within five minutes walk of the city centre, on the east coast of Scotland. An established university, it has a progressive and dynamic outlook, constantly striving to build on its achievements: investing in excellent facilities, pushing the boundaries of research, and developing new ways of e-learning.

Calling itself 'The Home of Serious Fun', the University of Dundee is one worthy of serious consideration - for the second time in four years, the University of Dundee was shortlisted for the Times Higher University of the Year award (2008). The Sunday Times recently said "This is one of the finest institutions in Britain where researchers routinely push back the boundaries of knowledge and teachers inspire their charges. The winners are the students lucky enough to study here."

The University is committed to educating society's professionals for the 21st century - doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, engineers, scientists, teachers, nurses, social workers, designers, artists, architects, psychologists, planners and economists. Its graduates enjoy amongst the highest starting salaries in the UK.

Academic strengths
Dundee offers the widest range of degree courses in Scotland. There are four academic colleges at the University of Dundee: Art, Science and Engineering; Arts and Social Sciences; Life Sciences; and Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing.

Many subjects, including Civil Engineering, Dentistry, Education, English and Medicine have all ranked in the top 10 in the UK, and one of the leading art schools in the UK - Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, is located within the University.

92 per cent of the international students say Dundee is 'a good place to be' (International Student Barometer), and the University is in the top five European Universities for Excellence in Research in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics (Thomson Scientific Index).
