Edinburgh Napier University is a dynamic professional institution, committed to providing high-quality education relevant to the needs of today’s students and employers.

Being one of the larger higher education institutions in Scotland, the University has around 15,000 students enrolled on a wide range of courses.

The University has a truly international atmosphere with almost 2,500 students from over 100 countries. Edinburgh Napier has strong links with the further education sector, international organisations, professional bodies, employers and community groups to widen the accessibility of learners.

The University constantly innovates and adopts new initiatives to give students the perfect mix of industry-recognised courses, excellent graduate employability prospects and modern facilities. Students can choose from a portfolio of 200 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes awarded across three faculties - Health, Life and Social Sciences; Engineering, Computing and Creative Industries; and The Business School.

The University has been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2009. This was awarded for demonstrating world-class standards of excellence. This recognition complements the world-leading classification awarded to the Architecture and Built Environment division in the Research Assessment Exercise in 2008.

By offering creatively designed courses, flexible study methods and accessible routes to higher education, we equip our graduates for success in a competitive job market. Edinburgh Napier was rated as one of the top ten universities for 'Graduate Employability' in the UK and Scotland (HESA 2009).

Academic Strengths
Edinburgh Napier has particular strengths in the fields of business, engineering, journalism and publishing, photography and film, biological sciences, computing and IT. Some of the most popular programmes are in business, the creative arts, mass communications, nursing and midwifery. Programmes in sports science, drug design and animal biology cut across the traditional boundaries in the sciences.

Facilities
Edinburgh Napier is a multi-campus university with three main sites in Edinburgh: Merchiston, Craighouse and Craiglockhart. Each campus has its own unique culture and sense of community, whilst benefiting from being part of a large, modern university. The redevelopment at Sighthill campus, to open in January 2011, will provide a sustainable state-of-the-art building with premier teaching and learning facilities and will be home to the Faculty of Health, Life and Social Sciences.

Edinburgh Napier is rapidly becoming the most modern and advanced university in Scotland. Our Craiglockhart campus houses our state-of-the-art Business School and boasts digital multi-media language labs, a cyber-cafe and wireless internet access, all set amidst spectacular architecture. Our 500-seat computer centre on the Merchiston Campus offers computer access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Student Life
Edinburgh is home to a range of attractions and is host to top-class events including its world-renowned arts festival which takes place every August. There is a huge choice of entertainment, from pubs and clubs to theatres, cinemas, sports facilities and restaurants. Edinburgh is an attractive and exciting place in which to live and study, and it is easy to understand why students from all over the world choose to come here.

Edinburgh Napier offers a comprehensive support service focused on helping all international students, and can advise on a whole range of issues including pre-departure information, visas, immigration, general welfare and employment while studying in the UK.

The International Office organises arrival and orientation programmes and social events throughout the year to make students' arrival and stay in Edinburgh as enjoyable as possible, and an experience they'll always remember.
