The University of East Anglia (UEA) is situated in 270 acres of parkland just two and a half miles from the centre of the historic city of Norwich. With internationally renowned faculties of study in Arts and Humanities, Health, Science and Social Science, The University enjoys worldwide recognition for its academic achievements and attracts students from over 100 countries to study on campus. They enjoy a safe, supportive and friendly environment that meets all of their academic, social and sporting needs.

The University was founded in the year 1963 and gained its Royal Charter in 1964. It has a student population of almost 15,000, of whom around 2,000 are from outside the UK. Of more than 150 degree awarding institutions in the country, UEA is consistently ranked in the top 20 for most academic subjects. It was voted joint first amongst mainstream English Universities in the latest National Student Survey for Student Satisfaction and is currently ranked 23rd in the Times Good University Guide.

Academic strengths
UEA is one of Britain's premier research and teaching universities and is committed to achieving international standards of excellence. The four faculties of Social Sciences, Sciences, Humanities and Health offer a wide range of subjects, including: biological and chemical sciences; development studies; economics; education; American studies; environmental sciences; history; computing; law; literature and creative writing; media; management; medicine and mathematics.

UEA is also part of the Norwich Research Park which is one of Europe's leading centres for research and development in the areas of plants, microbes, food, health, the environment and information systems.

The majority of our departments which have undergone external quality assessments have achieved 'Excellent' ratings, and the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise placed UEA among the top research universities in the UK. The University currently has externally-funded research projects worth approximately £125 million.

Scholarships
Each year UEA awards up to £1,000,000 to international students through the International Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding international applicants on the basis of academic merit and cover between 10 per cent and 50 per cent of tuition fees.
