The University of Warwick is one of the UK’s leading universities, consistently ranked within the top ten of UK universities since records began. Founded in 1965, it has quickly established a reputation for academic excellence, both for quality of research and high standards of teaching. Our range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees is all carefully structured, and are delivered and developed by experts in their fields.
Our courses within the four faculties - Arts, Sciences, Social Studies and Medicine, are challenging and rigorous, guided and inspired by our first-class academic staff. Warwick has always had a reputation for new and creative thinking. We have pioneered new approaches to many subjects at undergraduate level, including Law, Mathematics and Engineering.
In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, Warwick was ranked seventh in the UK for research quality, confirming Warwick's position as one of the UK's leading research universities. All Warwick academics are active researchers, working in the departments or in the specialised interdisciplinary research centres.
To support the work undertaken by researchers and academic staff, Warwick has developed new facilities and initiatives, such as Warwick Digital Laboratory, Centre for Analytical Science and the Wolfson Exchange. These new facilities support and enhance the wide range of state of the art academic facilities that are designed to encourage interactive, innovative and flexible learning environments.
Each year, Warwick welcomes students from more than 120 different nationalities to our cosmopolitan campus. The fact that 33 per cent of our student body comes from outside the UK, contributes immensely to the richness and vibrancy of university life. An integrated multi-cultural student community is central to our vision. We encourage all our students to consider themselves international and to pursue a global experience, which could be both on and off campus.
In addition to degree courses that have great international relevance, the University and Students’ Union provide a multitude of opportunities to develop international competencies through volunteering, mentoring and participation in high profile dynamic student-run events.
The world’s largest student festival of international culture, One World Week, is held on our campus every January and is run entirely by Warwick students. In terms of a global experience off campus, Warwick offers exchange opportunities at some of the world’s leading universities, as well as numerous opportunities to spend time overseas, enhancing the Warwick experience.
Warwick offers a comprehensive and co-ordinate network of support services to students. From Personal and Residential Tutors to the Counselling Service, there is always someone to speak to. We also offer support for students who wish to improve their level of English. These courses include intensive English courses and in-sessional courses to improve students' knowledge of English for both academic and general use.
The University is located in the heart of England, on the outskirts of the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Coventry.
