The University of Hertfordshire is an ambitious and entrepreneurial University. It offers excellence in teaching, learning and research and puts students at the heart of its activities. It is a model of a 21st Century University, international, business-facing and business-like in approach - making it distinctive in an ever changing higher education environment.

With a student community of over 24,000, including more than 2,000 international students from over 85 different countries, the University has a global network of over 100,000 alumni.

Location
The University has the perfect location, just 25 minutes by train from London in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. The University’s two campuses in Hatfield are only ten minutes walk apart and are safe, attractive places to live and study. You will find everything you need on our well equipped campuses. Our Law School, based in the historic market town of St Albans, is easily accessible using the University bus service.

Academic strengths
The University’s courses are developed in consultation with business, industry, the professions and the public sector. Their high vocational content means you’ll be more ‘work-ready’ than many other graduates qualified in your area of expertise. The University offers over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate courses across its 19 Schools of study.

Subject areas include art and design; film; music and media; business; computer science and engineering; physics; astronomy and maths; humanities; law and education; and biological and life sciences. We also provide preparation and foundation programmes and English language support before and during your studies if required.

Facilities
First-class learning facilities support world-class teaching. In fact, The University of Hertfordshire has invested more money than any other university in the UK in student facilities over the past 10 years. You’ll find our Learning Resources Centres (LRCs) invaluable in helping you to progress your studies and presenting your coursework. There is a LRC on each of our three campuses, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They provide a total of 2,900 study places, and 1,500 computer workstations with access to all the software you’ll need.

The University’s Key Centre, a multi-faith centre assists with concerns of an emotional, religious or practical kind and is available for anyone, of any religious faith or none. The University also provides a professional free and confidential counselling service and a health centre.

Accommodation
There’s a variety of accommodation to suit your budget both on and near our campuses. You’re guaranteed a room in University accommodation in your first year when you join us in our September intake.

Student life
There’s much more to university life than study. It’s a fantastic opportunity to discover new interests, make new friends and grow in independence. In September 2009 the University opened its new Student Forum building. This offers an extra entertainment venue, a 400-seat restaurant, 150-seat coffee shop and a convenience store.

The University’s International Students’ Association (ISA) organizes a packed calendar of social events. Annual highlights include Chinese New Year celebrations, an international culture week, and an international dance night. Off campus, you can take advantage of the many trips the ISA arranges. Students have recently enjoyed visits to the famous UK cities of Bath, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Stratford-upon-Avon, attractions such as Stonehenge and Windsor Castle, as well as tours further afield to Brussels and Paris.

You’ve also got all the attractions of London less than half an hour away by train. Experienced international advisers, based in our Student Centre on the College Lane Campus, are always available to help you with issues such as immigration and work permits, financial and personal matters.
