The University of Edinburgh Business School mission is to provide the highest quality business education to develop the leaders of tomorrow. The School is situated on the lively university campus in the heart of the city. MBA students have a dedicated building with fully networked computer facilities available 24/7. Its resource centre provides online access to a wide range of business journals and company reports.
Academic strengths
The School is consistently ranked very highly in The Financial Times and The Economist rankings. It is also EQUIS and AMBA accredited. The 80 strong teaching faculty represents a substantial body of experience, many of whom are active in industry-based research and consultancy. This experience feeds into the quality of the teaching, particularly in terms of bringing students up-to-date with current business issues.
In addition to the MBA, the School offers eight MSc courses, in Management; Finance and Investment; Finance and Risk; International Business and Emerging Markets; Accounting and Finance; Carbon Management; Economics; Operational Research.
Career prospects
The careers office provides many opportunities to meet with recruiters throughout the year at presentations, fairs and workshops, many of which take place in the School itself. The MBA programme also has its own dedicated team of five staff to provide tailored services in the areas of alumni, careers and corporate relations.
All courses have substantial practitioner input, in the form of guest speakers and collaborative projects, thus ensuring that students are in regular contact with recruiters. MBA students have access to a network of over 3,500 MBA alumni worldwide. The School runs an Entrepreneurship Club with two entrepreneurs in residence, business plan and pitching competitions and many guest speakers.
