UK university students – this is your week!
9 June 2014
It's Universities Week in the UK!
Researchers, students, professors and academics are taking the country by storm, celebrating the discovery and creativity at the heart of UK universities…
From 9–15 June, events at universities and museums across the country will showcase ground-breaking new research and innovations.
At the centre of it all is the Natural History Museum in London (above), where a whole host of free exhibits will allow members of the public to get hands-on with some of the most exciting research projects – from the car that is aiming to break the land speed record, to robots that can react almost as ‘intelligently’ as human beings.
#PeoplesQs - Interact with leading academics on Twitter
Have you got a burning question about your favourite subject? Want to interact with a world-leading professor, researcher or academic?

Ideas for life
The theme for Universities Week is ‘Ideas for Life’ – five themes identified by a public survey in the run-up to the week as the central issues in the world today. These themes are:
- Science and technology
- Environment and sustainability
- Health and wellbeing
There are events for people of all ages and backgrounds – all you need is a thirst for knowledge and a desire to learn something new.
Check out the Universities Week events list to see what is going on – there are tours, talks and exhibitions going on all over the UK.
