What's hot and what's not
Harry waves his magic wand
Harry Potter and his wizard ways continue to cast a spell over the land. June saw scenes of near hysteria when Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (book five) was finally released to its magic-mad fan base. And with next year's release of the film version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the spell is unlikely to break any time soon.

Text crazy
It's official, the UK has the fittest thumbs in the entire world, and the country's gone text message crazy. On average Britons send 50 million text messages a day and the figure just keeps on rising. So, if you don't know what C U L8TR stands for, then maybe you need to join the text revolution and give your thumbs some exercise.

Walk on the wild side
Whether it's to exotic far-flung destinations, the sunnier climes of mainland Europe or to the bed and breakfast in the next town, the British love to travel. Going out is the new staying in and the British are heading out in ever increasing numbers. So take a trip to UK shores and see if you catch the travel bug.

Super cool pads
The home is the latest must-have cool lifestyle accessory. With hundreds of DIY shows dominating UK TV schedules, the search for the perfect home is well and truly on. Whether you live in a flat, house, barge or bungalow you need to know how to make the best of your living space.

Are we still good Neighbours?
Holly Valance's dreams of becoming the next Kylie are fading. Having burst onto the UK scene with a couple of hit records, Valance's star has started to fade and the hit factory has dried up. Can she burst back or will a new young Aussie contender to the pop crown take her place? Only time will tell...

It's a grape life
The traditional UK pint has suffered a setback. It's no longer the UK's favourite tipple - that accolade has been snatched by wine. It seems there's no stopping our love of the humble grape. If you don't know your Pinot Grigio from your Sauvignon Blanc it's time to uncork a bottle, put down the pint and get with the in-crowd.

David gives the UK the boot
Football fan or not, the departure of David Beckham and wife Victoria has left a gap in UK news pages. Picking up your favourite gossip mag won't be the same without David's latest hairstyle or Victoria's latest designer outfit. It may be Viva España for the Beckham's, but the UK won't be the same without our favourite glitzy celebrity couple.
Novelty pop tunes
From the Cheeky Girls to the Fast Food Rockers, the nation seems to be gripped by the power of cheesy pop records. And it's no good blaming the kids - the rest of us must be buying them too, and that means you out there! It's definitely not cool but will they ever stop? Come back S Club and Steps, all is forgiven!
