Gibson has been hailed as one of the UK's leading designers.
Studied: Gibson studied at Nottinghamshire College of Design, graduating in Fashion Design in 1984.
Discovery: After graduation, Gibson went to work for British designer, Zandra Rhodes.
Work: Gibson is head of design at Monix and has launched her own label 'Elspeth Gibson'. In September 1998, she opened her first boutique in Pont Street, London. Her stockists include leading department stores Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Browns.
Signature style: Gibson creates flattering, flimsy and feminine chiffons with sleek, contemporary glamour. Her philosophy is 'that fashion should flatter the female form.'
Accolades: Gibson won the 1998 Generation of the Year Award at the British Fashion Awards and the Best British Designer at the Elle Style Awards in 1999.
Current achievements: In 1999, Gibson diversified with a range of luxury bath products to compliment her new collection. Most recently she has produced the 'Sweetpea' children's range.
British achievements: Gibson finds many sources of inspiration, from the Lord of the Rings to A Midsummer Night's Dream. Gibson says, 'I admire and am proud of our English heritage, I adore the beauty of the English countryside with its limitless inspiration.'
