Students aid expansion into China
Courtesy of the British Council - The Great Wall of China (top) & The Angel of the North (bottom) Chinese students in the north-east of England are working with the local business community to aid their expansion into China.
Under the scheme, local companies can select a Chinese-speaking student with knowledge or experience of their industrial sector and the market area in China. The student will then investigate the trade potential for the business.
Barry Yu, Chairman of the North East Chinese Association, commented, 'Chinese students in the north-east speak the language, understand the culture, and know how the system works in China.' Expanding on the benefits offered by the scheme, he said, 'The one-to-one contact they offer with the Chinese market will enable north-east firms to test market demand, competition, price levels... before committing significant expenditure.'
