Food for thought
© Maison Novelli A survey undertaken by restaurant magazine has revealed that three of the top 20 restaurants in the world are in the UK. At an award ceremony, overseen by suave Englishman Sir Roger Moore, Gordon Ramsey's London establishment was named the UK's highest placed restaurant at number five.
But the entries aren't just concentrated in London. Gidleigh Park Hotel and Restaurant in Devon was well placed at number 19. And the final UK top 20 spot went to The Merchant House, which is on the outskirts of Birmingham. The Merchant House seats just 24 people but the high quality of the food and service earned it a number 14 spot and also the additional title of Restaurant of Outstanding Value.
