Education
Over the borderline
An innovative cross-channel university is to link universities in southern England and northern France.
The 'Transmanche University', jointly funded by the UK and France, will connect the University of Kent, universities in Lille and the University of the Littoral. The University's first students will begin courses in autumn 2004, speaking both English and French. The University will mainly support postgraduate and research programmes in areas such as the environment, health and social policy.
