The Big Read
www.bbc.co.uk/arts/bigread A national search is underway to determine the UK's top 100 books. The Big Read's winners will be revealed in a series of programmes to be aired on the BBC.
The Big Read follows on from the BBC's search last year for the Greatest Briton, an accolade won by Sir Winston Churchill.
The top 100 books were announced to the public in a one-off special programme on 17 May 2003 but the final order of the top 20 will not be made public until the autumn. BBC Two will present a series of programmes on which celebrities will champion their choice of book. www.bbc.co.uk/arts/bigread
It will then be up to the public to vote again and decide which of the top 100 is their number one favourite book.
