Canterbury
Canterbury is England's most famous cathedral city and is packed full of things to do. The medieval streets bustle with life all year round and there is a diverse mixture of cultures, history, literature, festivals, sports, shops, restaurants and nightlife.
Canterbury is a great place for international students to study and there are numerous institutions at every educational level to choose from.
The cathedral and the nearby ruins of St Augustine's Abbey are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and form the heart of the city. The cathedral is well known for the martyrdom of St Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 to 1170, and is also the burial place of Edward the Black Prince, son of Edward III and Prince of Wales from 1343 to 1376.
At night Canterbury comes alive. It has some of the best theatres outside London including the Marlowe, which puts on many different plays, from post-West End to Shakespeare.
There is also the choice of two cinemas to visit, many wonderful pubs and restaurants and a number of bars and nightclubs to try.
