Something to write home about
As part of the International Student Awards, young people who have come to study at the UK's colleges, universities or English language institutions were asked to write 'letters home' to friends or families.
Entrants were asked to focus on their wider experiences of the UK rather than academic achievements.
Andrew King of the British Council, who ran the competition said, 'There has been a fantastic response. We have received many inspiring entries highlighting the opportunities in the UK. Some wrote about how the UK has helped them achieve personal ambitions or develop confidence. Others described new skills, hobbies and friends.' Judging is now underway and there will be a Winners Award Ceremony dinner at the Kensington Roof Gardens on 27 April, hosted by television presenter and journalist, Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
