Updates on visa application

From 2 May all applicants applying for a UK visa in Singapore must complete an online visa application form. Only applications that have been completed using the online visa application form on the UK Border Agency website will be accepted from this date.

After completing the online application, applicants may also book an appointment online to submit their biometrics and visa application at the visa application centre. Apply to study through UCAS

These are the key dates for your UCAS application for undergraduate study in the UK:

    • Mid-September (the year before the course starts) – all applications open.
    • 15 October – closing date for applications to courses in medicine, dentistry, veterinary sciences/medicines and Oxford and Cambridge universities.
    • 15 January – closing date for EEA students, except for art and design courses with a 24 March deadline.
    • 31 March - if you sent your application by 15 January, UK institutions should send their decisions to UCAS by this date (but they can take longer).
    • 5 May – if UCAS receive decisions from your UK institutions by 31 March, you need to reply to any offers by this date. If you don’t, UCAS will decline offers on your behalf.
    • 7 May - if you sent your application by 15 January, UK institutions must send their decisions to UCAS by this date. If they don't, UCAS will make any outstanding choices unsuccessful on their behalf.
    • 8 June - if UCAS receive decisions from your UK institutions by 7 May, you need to reply to any offers by this date. If you don’t, UCAS will decline offers on your behalf.
    • 30 June – closing date for international students outside of the EEA.
    • 20 July – if you sent your application by 30 June, UK institutions will send their decision to UCAS by this date.
    • 27 July - if UCAS receive decisions from your UK institutions by 20 July, you need to reply to any offers by this date. If you don’t, UCAS will decline offers on your behalf.

Apply for a general student visa

To apply for a general student visa you will need to fill in an application form, pay a S$536 fee and provide the following:

    • passport or travel document
    • visa letter from your UK education provider
    • bank statements to prove you have enough money to study and live in the UK
    • documents required by your UK education provider when they accepted you for the course
    • biometric details (photo and fingerprint scan)
