Business degrees are among the most popular in the UK. More than 13 per cent of all UK higher education students and 19 per cent of postgraduates are on business-related courses. You’ll be in good company too, as nearly a third of all UK business students come from overseas.

UK business and administration courses to study

Many UK further education colleges and specialist business or language schools offer courses accredited by professional bodies. These include the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the Chartered Institute of Management (CIM) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Business courses are among the most popular foundation degrees in the UK. NCC Education offers business courses that give a good introduction and are accepted for entry by many UK universities.

HNDs with work placements are available in subjects like Business and Finance, and Business with Computing. There are also courses that specialise in Culinary Management, Events Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management. The BTEC National (England, Wales and Northern Ireland only) in Business allows you to specialise in human resources or marketing, with management courses available for specific industry areas.

UK undergraduate business degrees

A huge range of business-related degree courses in the UK are on offer. Most lead to Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). Others take you to Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or undergraduate Master of Management Science (MManSci).

UK postgraduate business courses

More than 16,000 postgraduate courses relating to business, management and marketing are available at UK universities. Many business graduates join international companies on fast-track management training programmes. There is strong competition in this area, so a UK postgraduate degree can give you a definite edge.

Business education and research at postgraduate level receives some funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). They have a budget of more than £100 million and fund around 2,000 postgraduate students in the UK.

Study methods in the UK are taught master's and PG Certificate/Diploma or research degrees (MPhil, MRes and PhD). Some UK universities also offer New-Route PhDs in business-related subjects.
