'Smart Talk is series of master classes, lectures and workshops that has been developed with the aim of giving Chinese public an insight into UK education'
Smart Talk is series of master classes, lectures and workshops that has been developed with the aim of giving Chinese public an insight into UK education, with particular focus on how, via educational experience, inspiration and innovation we can encourage creative thinking and active participation.
Since 2009 Smart Talk has been bringing the best of UK Alumni to China. Previous Smart Talk speakers include big names, like Hollywood legend Sir Patrick Stewart, footwear designer Jimmy Choo, global business tycoon Sir Richard Branson, as well as rising stars like adventurer and world record breaker Mark Beaumont, and Thomas Heatherwick, talented designer of the London Olympic Cauldron and UK pavilion in the Shanghai World Expo.
The subjects of these dialogues are diverse in nature highlighting not only the wealth of options available in UK education but also the inspiring work, research and adventures that UK graduates have been and are currently involved in. Covering a wide spectrum of subjects, from architecture and advertising, to embryology and entrepreneurism the topics of Smart Talk are wide and varied. They are what students have told us they wanted to hear and try to capture the essence of the diversity that we see in modern UK and Chinese education.
For 2012 Smart Talk will be focusing on the creative and artistic talents coming from the UK. We have invited exciting young designers, established industry names, and creative pioneers to take part in this year’s series. Smart Talk this year will shine a spotlight on the excellent and adventurous projects that these UK Alumni are currently involved in and already succeeded in.
