About Dream Lab 项目介绍

Dream Lab invites student teams to demonstrate many of the attributes and skills increasingly sought by employers - including teamwork, communication, and the ability to apply thinking from different disciplines in a response to a creative brief.

Teams will explore and present their ideas around how science can be communicated to the public through creative practice. The team will receive a brief and will create and develop their ideas through contact with UK practitioners, who will give feedback to help progress their thinking, in order to develop the improved ideas into a proposal.

如何通过创意实践，将科学信息深入浅出地传递给公众，这是参赛队伍需要探究并最终呈现的课题。得到挑战赛的任务后，参赛团队将提出并丰富自己的观点，然后通过与英国专家的交流获得反馈，经过进一步研究以改进自己的作品。

Dream Lab is delivered through an innovative online 'Study Space', giving teams a flavour of what UK education is like. The six successful teams will compete in a final event, to meet a panel of UK and Chinese experts and to exhibit their ideas to the public.

The Stages:

Preliminary Stage:
June - August 2012

Teams will complete two tasks. Task 1 involves all teams uploading a 90 second video to the Dream Lab webpage on QQ.com (http://edu.qq.com/zt2012/yssjmgf/index.htm) and receiving ratings from netizens. Task 2 asks to teams to submit a 500 word paragraph in English with 5 supporting images, about their ideas on the future of eating, the theme of the Dream Lab competition this year. A team of experts in the UK will then go through the teams’ uploaded content and give scores to their favourite videos. Netizens’s ratings will contribute a 30% of the score, and the other 70% will be contributed by the team of experts. 40 teams, with at least one team from each participating institute, will go through to the next round.

Online Stage:
10 September - 15 October 2012

Teams will then work using an online ‘study space’ through which they will be introduced to a group of specialist UK advisers consisting of UK judges and postgraduate students from Kingston University and Royal College of Art, where they can develop their ideas for Dream Lab. The teams will subsequently submit a detailed proposal of no more than four pages, and the UK experts will then make a shortlist for the live final. Only four teams can progress from this stage to the live final.

2012年9月10日—10月15日

Revival Stage
25 October- 8 November 2012

This round will provide one last chance for all previously unsuccessful teams from the preliminary and online stages to compete once more for a spot in the live final!

The teams will be required to complete a new task and the panel of experts will select two more teams to join the live final.

Live Final

The six final teams will present their final work. Finalists should come up with the most creative ways of expressing their ideas to the judges, and the team of experts will also grill them on their work in front of a live audience and streamed on the internet. A final awards ceremony will be held where the winners will be announced and all the participating teams will be presented with awards
