First steps is a pre-departure guide for international students who are about to come to the UK to study. It features checklists covering topics such as:

- insurance
- travelling to your place of study.
There are also links to useful organisations who can answer questions on topics such as customs allowances, accommodation and other student issues.
Creating confidence is a guide to making your time in the UK as safe and enjoyable as possible. It provides advice on how to safe on the streets and at home, as well as how to protect your identity.
Transport in a new country can take some getting used to, so there’s also advice on using the UK public transport system and what qualifications and documentation you need in order to drive. Sections on police powers of arrest and what to do if you experience racial discrimination or harassment explain key points about UK law and policing.
